Peter Wieżel is a Technical Advisor in the Good Financial Governance in Africa programme where he provides advice on Tackling tax related Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) to the African Union Commission. Previously, Peter worked as an Advisor to the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) Secretariat, where he dealt with issues of Domestic Resource Mobilisation (DRM), international taxation, and development policies. He started his tax career with Ernst & Young in Germany and worked for more than four years as a senior advisor in the international tax and transfer pricing unit advising multinational corporations from several business sectors on taxation aspects of cross-border intercompany transactions. Peter holds two Master's degrees, one from the Free University of Berlin (M.Sc. in Economics) and another one from the University of Cologne (LL.M. in International Corporate Tax Law). In addition, he is a certified TADAT Assessor.
